Make nice looking RPG maps easily.

RPG Map is a tabletop oriented map editor
with the keep it clean & simple philosophy in mind.

About

RPG Map is a tool I’ve built to make maps for my tabletop RPG sessions, with my friends. It’s born from the fact that most existing tools were either looking bad or were simply overly complex to use.

My approach is to make an easy to use tool to create beautiful maps quickly.

You can still access the old Flash-based version (source code available on GitHub)

From 2013 to 2020, the “Cthulhu manor” demo map shows the evolutions of RPG Map

This is super cool and awesome and good. Thank you for making this and letting people use this!

The new feature to upload tokens is perfect! Can we have some graphic resources? It would be nice to create additional token packs!

This runs beautifully, and I love to use this map to help run my D&D Campaigns. I hope this gets ported to Mac OS eventually, but I'm very satisfied with the Browser version.

There are many things right, and there are many things wrong. But I'm sure you don't need me to sing your praises or your faults (aside from the thin walls, those look really silly) — BUT, I do think you're headed in the right direction. I like this program, the beauty in it's simple design, and now I can import all the pixel tiles I have made in hopes to use them someday. Now I can. I have but one suggestion to make: Rotation grid alignment. Walls, furniture, icons, it will all feel much more free to distort them at a leisure that satisfies a part of mapmakers by making them align to parts of a tile (rather than the wall just cutting through a tile and leaving empty space). Also, if I could add, I'm sure there will be people itching to share assets now that we can import things into the Map Maker, so there's an idea for me to plant into your head which I hope you will consider. Stay safe and good luck to ya.

Such a good program, and with this latest update, it's even better. Allowing us to upload our own images is such a relief and I'm so glad you implemented it, and letting us change the color on most things is SOOO helpful. However the only thing I want to see is Maybe a way to flip doors and windows so I can have them face any way without having to stretch it or make it longer. AND a way to change the plant life colors, Maybe I wanna make autumn or winter maps! Hopefully this gets to you along with the positive wishes! Oh this might just be my side but I had to RE download the whole program to get the update, any help?

Awesome program! I would love to have a forum to share our work and ideas with each other. One bug I came across; when using lots of custom assets, the scale, rotate, delete options get pushed off screen and are not useable. Thank you for doing such an awesome job on this program overall.

Hi! I really like this program, great work! However the new update makes walls a bit less legible than they were, I think.

Is it possible for the walls to either snap-to-line of the grid (instead of being in the middle of the square), or just go back to filling a square? The thin walls are great, but it feels really weird in Normal and Best views when there's half a square of unusable area left.

Awesome update! But I think I've run into a bug. It looks like the Global Tint under Map Aspect isn't preserved across closing and reopening. It's not a huge issue to just set it again, but just wanted to give you a heads up. Thanks for all the great work!

    Awesome tool!

I only just came across it a couple of weeks ago (ver. 15). It's proven a hassle-free way to quickly design battle maps for my PTU campaign. For my current needs, it could only be made any better by allowing you to change grass color (which apparently you can do in ver 16). The thing is the new update (either OpenGL or DirectX) won't run on my 32-bit Windows 7. Any chances of a future desktop version-16 release that would run on a Win32-bit OS?

Anyway, THANKS for the SUPERB tool! Please keep it clean and simple! That's ace!

In regard to my previous comment, i would also like to add that the color mixing has changed for the worse.

I like many things about this new update, but please at least add an option to make the walls look like they used to. These thin walls just feel wrong

I somehow cant access the HTML5 Version. Links always bring me to the overview

  18. Neptune:

I'm tearing my hair out with how poorly the walls match the grid now, and with how far furniture gets displaced when next to walls. The update is great in many aspects (furniture rendered under walls, better cavern walls), but this is just so frustrating that it's almost unusable. Is there a technical reason why you can't implement a solution similar to Mipui? Can't you do thin walls *between* tiles instead of in the *middle* of them? Or, doors between tiles instead, for that matter? Walls, fences, and the like occupying a tile is useless to me, confusing for my players, and gives me a headache while trying to design maps.

    Suggestion:
Add the default Map aspect to the Skin preset.
I was checking the other skins and then when I wanted to go back to the default I was not able to (and I had to delete the userSettings folder to achieve that)

    Thanks for the tool !!!
I saw that you planned on putting more objects in the next update, maybe you could put alternative player skins, or coloring for them !
Anyway thanks again for sharing this tool !
