ANA Map will no longer be updated
This version won’t be updated anymore. You can switch to the new RPG Map 2 which gets rid of Flash and implements many features requested by users. The source code of the original ANA Map is available on GitHub.
About the old Flash version
IMPORTANT : you need a Flash Player for this version to work. So far it has been tested on Firefox 59 and Chrome. For Chrome, you may need to click this link for it to work and choose “Allow” when asked to run flash. If nothing shows, there might be an issue with the Flash player: you should check if it’s enabled and not blocked by any third party extension.
For the last 20 years, I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs with friends on a very regular basis. I’ve spent a huge amount of time writing scenarii and missions. I did it with traditional pen & papers at first, and with Google Docs afterwards.
Problem is: it’s ok to write missions with Google Docs, until it comes to drawing the map of, say, a dungeon in Dungeon & Dragons, or a haunted house in Call of Cthulhu. Most of the dedicated tools are either:
- Old: like with a Win95 interface with almost zero attention to ergonomic
- Bloated: the tools allows EVERY single thing related to drawing a map, and therefore, is too complicated for my simple needs.
- Ugly: the tool uses lots of terrible textures where I just want to draw walls and doors.
For some times now, I’ve been using Photoshop to paint my maps. But let’s face it. It’s a great tool, but it has not been designed for that purpose. And it’s not free.
So I’ve decided to work on my own tool, with the sacred KiSS principle in mind (Keep it Short & Simple).

I love this tool. Simple and sweet! Is there any possibility of a downloadable version with some enhanced functionality? Copy-Paste features, a few more simple object icons (like chests, trap icon, monster icon, etc)? Perhaps even a toggle from a square grid to a hex grid?
I've been looking for a great client for making maps, and yours comes the closest to what I've been looking for. I'd love to see a slightly more fleshed out tool that keeps the same design philosophy you've got here. Guess I can't speak for anybody else, but I'd definitely be willing to drop a few bucks for one!
is there a way to make bigger maps? I'm trying to replicate one I've made by hand and I'm about 5 or 6 squares short :/
If you have trouble seeing this for w/e reason, and you have flash, just click on the get flash buton and allow flash for the page if you are on chrome, fixes any issues with it not showing up.
While not written in the help me, you can shift click drag with wall to remove/add wall section with lesser burden.
The reason why you cant see it, is because Flash is dead since years.
By now 2018, no serious browser creator lets this security nightmare in its software.
So the solution is, he should do HTML5 or find another solution.
I dont see it either
I don't think you can pass remove walls, just drag your mouse around a lot and you do it after a wile… (If you have spent more than 20 minutes doing this, find a different web site… or some paper)
i dont see it
It's not loading for me. what am I doing wrong?
I got flash player and everything.
Is there a way to mass remove walls?
Oh! Press space…
How do I make a door face a different direction?
How do I remove things… Not walls or rooms, I mean how do I remove things like doors and crates?
Wow! This is awesome! Now I can make maps for my modules easy! No scribbling on paper and throwing this and that away! I HAVE THIS! Yay!
This is a great tool! Thank you for making it. I'd actually like to request way to toggle between different size brushes like 1×1, 2×2, 3×3, etc. Maybe the space bar could be used to do this?
I love this tool! Being able to save stuff to my own backup spot is nice, but would it be possible to offer a login? The files are really super tiny!
This is a great program, all I could think to add is a zoom feature.
NVM
not working :? I have flash!
