ANA Map will no longer be updated
This version won’t be updated anymore. You can switch to the new RPG Map 2 which gets rid of Flash and implements many features requested by users. The source code of the original ANA Map is available on GitHub.
About the old Flash version
IMPORTANT : you need a Flash Player for this version to work. So far it has been tested on Firefox 59 and Chrome. For Chrome, you may need to click this link for it to work and choose “Allow” when asked to run flash. If nothing shows, there might be an issue with the Flash player: you should check if it’s enabled and not blocked by any third party extension.
For the last 20 years, I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs with friends on a very regular basis. I’ve spent a huge amount of time writing scenarii and missions. I did it with traditional pen & papers at first, and with Google Docs afterwards.
Problem is: it’s ok to write missions with Google Docs, until it comes to drawing the map of, say, a dungeon in Dungeon & Dragons, or a haunted house in Call of Cthulhu. Most of the dedicated tools are either:
- Old: like with a Win95 interface with almost zero attention to ergonomic
- Bloated: the tools allows EVERY single thing related to drawing a map, and therefore, is too complicated for my simple needs.
- Ugly: the tool uses lots of terrible textures where I just want to draw walls and doors.
For some times now, I’ve been using Photoshop to paint my maps. But let’s face it. It’s a great tool, but it has not been designed for that purpose. And it’s not free.
So I’ve decided to work on my own tool, with the sacred KiSS principle in mind (Keep it Short & Simple).
Awesome tool, thanks for making it free as well. If I may second a suggestion already given here, the addition of water would really help. I like killing my PCs by drowning now and then. Thanks again.
You program is a life saver! Been using it for my mega dungeon and it's a wonder!
Hey, I'd really like to try out this app as the feedback is amazing but it doesn't load :( I have flash player installed and use google Chrome.
A great tool, thanks! I think it just needs one simple add… water tiles (puddles & deep ones)
My non-flash competitor, for those having issues: https://www.mipui.net/app
Amazing! This web app is great! You literally rescued a GM from mild embarrassment there, friend! :)
I don't see the map editor anymore, erh.
If you are having issues, here is a direct link: http://deepnight.net/files/tools/rpgMap/7.1/client.swf Alternately, use a different browser that might detect the flash and let you run it.
Well now I see the error in my ways. I needed to allow flash to play. Great tool!
While the tool seems great, it'd be nice if it actually showed up. If there was a way to fix that..?
Is there a way to save this a tool as a software?
Wow, this is amazing. Really quick way to make maps, its perfect since it doesnt really need that much detail since my players aren't gonna see this and I draw on my mat. Plus its free so why complain.
Know what would be nice? The ability yo click and highlight a certain part of your map and then move it to a different part in case you build too close, or take too long making a part, and find out you need to move it somewhere else
Flash is becoming end-of-live, I'd really love a downloadable standalone app of this.. As of the most recent update of Flash on Ubuntu, I can no longer save the map.
I miss the option change colors in the furn. To say, this is a Sofa, table, shelf… others?
For plants too, big tree, small tree, Bush, Fruitful tree, flowers…
The menus show or hide.
It's be a good ideia if we can move the menu options. There are many square behind him.
Side Note: I have my browser (firefox) settings to "Ask to Activate" for flash. Not sure why, but this page doesn't prompt for Flash permissions so it looks like it never loads. Not sure why. Just an fyi.
APP IT! Seriously. Just like this.
• I'm not a fan of middle mouse to pan the map though as it will move my entire browser window as I start to get close to the edge. Shift+L-Mouse maybe?
• Add a circle object. Same size varients as Furn. I guess people could use it as water too.
• Add a window object
Those would be my only suggestions.
Is there like a way to download this?
