Your sister, Lice, is held inside the Hammer Watch prisons. You must sneak inside and find her.

Beneath the City is a turn based stealth game where each move counts. My initial goal was to create a stealth roguelike using a 3D isometric view.

I finally switched to back to top-down view because of the timing and the controls (3D iso is no good with keyboard controls). Beneath the city lacks proper ending, and different enemies, but all the basics are here.

Hey this was awesome, it's like that game Ending but the stealth mechanics add a lot more than just pattern repetition, good job man, would definitely like to see this fleshed out more.

I want a full game like this, only a few extra features would really warrant it a purchase me thinks. :) Thanks for the sneaky sneaks

With an expanded plot and more levels/maps, this could easily make a full game. An increase in item and enemy types would be nice, but what is there gives it more of a challenging, puzzle-game feel that is already enjoyable.

    Hey!
Great game, as always, but I'd really like to see a post-compo with more types of enemies and maybe more powerups and, of course, a proper ending.
Can't wait to read the post-mortem!

Yeah! It's great. I miss a little trinkets to steal, and special treasure in hidden locations, and such.

About the story, it is great for me to rescue a little sister, at least, is not the common damsel in distress where romance is hinted.

    Good work!

Wonderful!! Just wow!! :-) One criticsm though: It would be cool if you could avoid the two tropes regarding representation of woman in this game: The sister in your game is both used as a damsel in distress and a disposable damsel (see the Damsel in Distress Part 2 Tropes vs. Woman video from Anita Sarkeesian). I can understand that especially in this small amount of time you had, the first plots that come up are totally cliche ones. It's just the way the human brain works. But if you take your time to expand and finish your game, which I sincerely hope because of your wonderful thief-mechanics (!!), I would really appreciate it if you could avoid the stereotypes, cliches and tropes, which permeate way too much games in these times already.

Hi, thanks for your feedback, I can't agree more!
Actually, I would really like to make a full game of Beneath the City, and the plot probably won't be to save a damsel. I actually had to write something during the last few hours, so the result is this: stereotyped and not really interesting nor surprising. I will think of that on next version :)

It's sad you did not had the time to make a proper ending :(
Anyway, the game concept was really great, and I would have liked more levels.
